A 12-week design internship at Amazon’s Seattle headquarters.
Amazon Devices and Design Group (DDG), Fire Tablet
UX Design Intern, with emphasis on UX research
I was given the privileged opportunity to intern at Amazon in Summer 2018 as a UX design intern for the Amazon Fire Tablet team. I worked on a confidential project on a confidential floor at Amazon's HQ building, Day 1, in the heart of Downtown Seattle. This page aims to be as vaguely specific as I can get, so bear with me as I reflect upon my time at Amazon!
Although my project was a solo intern project, I was able to work with designers from different device teams, UX researchers, design technologists, and other brilliant people to learn the best approaches and processes during each step of the way. Although the Fire Tablet is Amazon's most 'mature' product, limited user research was available to me, so the first part of my internship was focused on research. This required a lot of self-led, in-house, 'scrappy' user research because it was an Amazon DDG confidential and independent project that could only be shared within DDG. Almost every week, I presented insights and next steps to the team, and this continued into concepts and wireframes for the last half of the internship. My designing timeline was limited to roughly 2-3 weeks, since the last two weeks were set aside in preparation for my Final Intern Presentation.
TLDR; I worked at an incredible location...
...with some incredible people...
...and some really cute dogs. such good bois.
